It is important not only to remove the contaminated water from a property, but to de-contaminate that water as well.  When water is contaminated – whether by waste or some types of contaminants – they can be destructive to the environment as well as a property.  This is the essence of water remediation – especially when that water poses a threat to people.  

When a property is affected by contaminated water, the water must first be removed from the property so that the property can then be decontaminated.  In some cases, the water must also be decontaminated prior to its disposal.

When a property has been touched by contaminated water, it isn’t enough simply to remove the water, it’s necessary to also remove the contaminants brought in by that water.  It is the third step of water remediation that some may not understand.  Why decontaminate the water itself?  As stated above – contaminated water can be harmful to the environment as well as the property – and depending on the contaminant or the area into which it is disposed, it may be necessary to take extra caution and decontaminate the extracted water.  At the very least, the contaminated water should be disposed of in an area that won’t feed into other areas, and which isn’t easily accessible to people.

Water remediation should be initiated quickly – the longer you wait, the more time your property has for it to be contaminated.  Water permeates over time, and the deeper it gets into a property, the more difficult it becomes to effectively complete the water remediation process.
